Praying about Cambodia...since I've been home.

well it has been almost 2 months since I've been back from Cambodia. Funny how life doesn't slow down, just because you are gone. I have had many days to pray and think through..."What Next?" I feel so blessed to be his child...His little girl. The fact that I am HIS pocession amazes me!
Since Cambodia, I had the opportunity to be the Sales Director for Ladies LYFE, a conference held for women at BBC. It was neat to see all the hard work of planning what to sell in the store, and then having the ladies purchase these items. All the $ from the sales went to scholarships for young ladies at BBC who are studying for full-time ministry. We were able to raise $13,000 in scholarship! :) It was awesome to have my mom here for the 2nd weekend. God really did give me great parents. It was fun to hang out with mom, she is such a blessing to me! Fun side note: She won the grand prize at the ladies retreat..DIAMOND EARINGS! (no this was not rigged..lol). She also helped me with a garage sale that we had the day she left. it was good to get rid of junk and put a little bigger dent in my school debt. :) whoo hooo beep beep!

I am currently hosting a Bible Study for College and Career class in my house on Wednesday nights. we have a bout 10-15 people there each week. It has been good to have that fellowship!

So what now?
I have heard from ActionCambodia and have began to step out in faith and began the process of applying. I hope to talk to my former pastor sometime this week :). I kept in contact with the ActionCambodia missionaries (BECKS), as well as the ABWE missions(CADYS). I am fervently trying to pay off my school loan to make myself financially available to serve on the mission field.

How can you pray? (thanks for asking ;) )

-Pray that I would be able to pay off my Student loans at a more rapid rate. (praise I am able to work on Saturdays at my fun babysitting job! :) )
-Pray for the His Word would dwell in me richly! I want to be close to HIM!
-Pray that I would have wisdom to know what mission's agency to have come alongside the church that sends me.
-Pray that I would have the $ and time off work for Action's Seminar Class in Washington (state) September 11-14th (if this is what God wants)
-Pray for me as I prepare for what God has in store.
-Pray that I would be an effective Admissions Counselor here at BBC. Able to build good relationships with my applicants, saftey as I travel the NY, New England, PA area this fall, good times with the Lord as I travel alone for many hours in the car :).

I appreciate your prayers and input in my life! I am one blessed lady! Our God is Sooooo GOOD!

mission on this life...

Life can be hard, but I believe that trials bring out beauty. I want my life to reflect that. I am realizing that so many people have passion in life, but for what? If we claim to know Christ, yet our life doesn't reflect it, what's the point? I want to be found deep in love, passionately pursuing, and hopelessly longing for The ONE who truly satisfies. What hope, what joy, what lasting satisfaction it is to be a child of the KING!

last day in cambodia

well, I can hardly believe that today is the last day. (I don't want to leave yet!). Today we got to go to church 2 times. The van ride to the Khmer church involved cramming 18 people into a van...FUN! It has been a blessing to get to know the Asian Hope kids...they are a blessing and encouragement to me in so many ways. I want to get to know them better, they are a worth while investment for sure!!! we then had the opportunity to meet with English Speaking believers at the 2nd service that is held in a room at the Becks house. The worship was awesome and Keith gave a great challenge from the book of Daniel, a message I needed for my heart as we consider what we will settle for instead of Christ. I want to telll you about the countess people I have met. I should have brought a bigger suitcase to bring them all back in :) (Yes, I love them that much!) No worries, I am fully aware that it is against the law to do that! Tonight we fly out...please pray for good health, I want to use this time to reflect and cry out to God.the cute Beck kids are asking to play...I can't resist!I look forward to seeing many of you very soon!I love you!Until the Shout,Jen :)PS. Day 3 in Cambodia

Susaday (hello)His mercies are new every moring...GOD"S FAITHFULNESS to us is AMAZING!! I feel like a "real" missionary with all these stories...lol. Last night was awesome! When we got back to the guest house I met a girl from a provence outside of the city who came with her older neighbor and 2 of the neighbors 9 kids. They were in the city so the little boy Jamin, (though he looked 2, was actually 5) could have a heart Dr look at him in hopes of saving his life. I got to talk with Sosen, who is 20. She shared with me her story of how God brought missionaries to her village and told her about Jesus, as a small child she accepted HIM as Lord of her life. Her mom had passed away and her dad was very abusive (Abuse is the norm here...very common in all shapes and forms). though she would be hit if she went to church, her love for Jesus Compelled her to go...so through the hitting she would pray for her dad's salvation...God answered her prayer 6 years later!!!!!!!!!!!! It is awesome to hear how God changes hearts...He gives HOPE!! I was humbled as I got to go back to my cozy bed in the AC and they had to sleep on the matted floor. Keith had given me some fig nuttens (sp?) and I gave them to the little boy this morning...he held them like treasures, taking a little bite and then sliding it back in the bag to save for later. I am thankful that God opened this door for me...I am grateful!Today we had breakfast and will soon head out for the Wat (which is the Buddist temple), and then to Shalom church and then to the Market place. Mom, yesterday at the Market place I saw a really pretty quilt that was made (same price as US) but made me think of you and g-ma Hodge! I took a picture for you! Dad, Daren and Jodi loved the Piper books. They were all overwhelmed by the toys and supplies that your money provided. I hope to tell them tomorrow night about the money that was raised to give to their ministry! shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !! I am sooooooooo glad you all had a part in that! :) My time in the Word has been sweet too! ahhh how refreshing in the heat of life!Until the Shout!Jen :)PS. I LOVE IT HERE!

Day 2 in Cambodia

This morning I got to sleep in a bit...that was nice, I actually think I am on the schedule here :) I read Col 1 today, how God took us from darkness into LIGHT!. That theme ran throughout my whole day. Daren pick Keith and I up from the guest house and took us to breakfast where I enjoyed a yummy bowl of noodle soup (yes for breakfast) with some hot sauce (my clock is so messed up that lunch for breakfast didn't seem odd!) It was there that I really got to hear and learn about Cambodia first hand. I am learning much, and Daren is a great teacher, he knows his stuff. I am grateful for the time that he has spent to share with us. I was reminded in talking with him how dark Cambodia is and how much in need there is of a Savior. 98% of the people here are Buddist.We then went to the S-21 museum, this is the school that was turned into a place of mass murders and torture for those who betrayed the Khmer Rouge. The first hall way consisted of rooms that were torture rooms. 1 single bed (no mattress) with a heavy metal chain that the person being tourtured would be connected to. Pictures were on the wall of what they found there (real ones). the next hall way that we went through had room after room of actual photos that were taken of each person that entered the gates (only 4 of the thousands survived). The next hallways that we went through were halls of pictures of how the people were tortured, as well as testimonies of those who survived and those who had done the tourturing. Daren made a statement that penatrated my heart...sin is not above us, we are capable of the sickest things in the deepest rescess of our hearts. I was humbled as I stood before those pictures...innocent lives, lives full of life and dreams, taken by harsh measures. I was reminded of the HOPE we have in Christ...how precious that is to us who know HIM.We then went to lunch...it was sooooooooooooooooo hot today and the electricity in the restaurant we went to didn't allow for the comfort of the AC. I think it was over 100 today with humity, maybe a 1,0000000...lol (just kidding). During lunch I got to ask some questions of Daren, specifically regarding missions. (thank you MR JACKSON for talking so much about "THE CALL". ) I would like to say that I waxed elequantly, but I am still in the process of figuring out what that is for me...I am learning and praying!we then took a rest in the AC...ahhhhWe spent the evening get flowers in the market for JODI's Birthday and eating dinner and cake for her special day.I am enjoying the culture and the cute kids! There is so much to tell but I don't want to take up all the time on the computer. PS Things to ask me about when I get home: Rose Marie the nurse that works at the school is amazing...ask me to tell you about her. The beck Kids are my newest best buds. the becks are people I could learn a lot from (they love the LORD!), and the 3 ladies that work for them are fun to get to know...ahhh and Daniel...SOOOOOOO cute...I think he is 4 months old. :)...see I told you I could go on for EVER!!!!!!Things to pray for:1-That I would feel good in the heat2- for Logos school who is need of some pre-K teachers, a math teacher and a physics teacher for next year.3-that we may shine Jesus while we are here!4- That God would make my calling sure.5-for my return home (that I wouldn't get sick again) :)I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Until the Shout!Bong Jen (that is what they call "Older sisters" here...the Beck kids call me this ...so cute)Col 1 ...may we be light

Made it to cambodia...April 26th

I made it! whoo hoo beep beep!After 18hours flight time and over 24 hours of travel, throwing up 13 times on the first flight (I think food posioning from NYC)...I flew in to Cambodia today! :) It is more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. It is hot and mug! emphasis on the HOT and MUGGY! but I love it! we are staying in a really nice guest house up the street from the missionaries here. We are going to the school today, the museum of the killing fields tomorrow... Marilyn (Keith's wife...missionary wife of pastor in MI) flew back to the states moments before I got here, as her brother went to be with the Lord. God has given me opportunities to share HIM already along my trip. I really do praise Him for allowing me to get sick, as it opened up doors with the flight attendants that might not have been there elsewise. God is amazing and The Becks are fun to get to know! God is using them, and it is exciting to see their ministry! I want to keep this short as I am using the Beck's computer, but I wanted to let you know that I made it safe and GOD IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO good!May He be glorified! Pray that I have opportunities to be a blessing to this family and to those I meet! That I see if I "fit" here! I miss and love you each!I hope this finds you living for Jesus!
